This book is the direct offspring of Viral Pathogenesis,! K1 Q' S) N/ q
published in 1997. Having read several drafts of all the/ y$ A( v8 q. d( [
chapters in Viral Pathogenesis, it was clear that the large, t: O9 I9 L7 ^! `, l
book contained a wealth of information, but that it was+ z+ p8 u+ ?2 ^" n
unsuited for readers who desired an introduction to the( K1 K2 Y/ B* E
